This is an amazing hospital. Whenever I have had to go there I found the staff friendly, welcoming and the hospital itself spotless. For all those that give it bad reviews because you waited too long in A&E, understand what that means. Accident and emergency. If you go in with a broken bone that is not life threatening, it is an accident and you may take a while to be seen. The reasons for this are: 1. People go to A&E when they have no reason to do so. They could go to a minor injuries unit. 2. There will be a nurse/doctor doing different roles in A&E. One of them could be flooded with a list of people as long as your arm, another could so few that they could count in on 1 hand. 3. If someone comes in with life threatening condition, they will ALWAYS get priority. In my opinion nurses in general are overworked and under paid. The NHS needs more funding, but in the mean time, this hospital is operating as best as it can 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
Had a planned elective surgery, cannot fault staff at Basildon hospital who facilitated my surgery.i was kept well informed about time scales and the day went smooth even though I was very apprehensive about it. Special mention to the Day unit and Theatre recovery staff who made me feel at ease on the very anxious day.

Thank You Doctor Albanese, for fixing my broken heart (15th february mechanical heart valve replacement), and giving me a new lease of life. You looked after me so very well when i had my open heart surgery, which you stepped in when my original surgeon couldn't do it. You are truly an amazing surgeon, and without you my four children and 12 grandchildren would have been very lonely. The care you gave me was the best ever and also your anesthetist Maria, who went over and above to help me, I wish to thank the whole surgery team and chelmer ward (patricia) was great ensured my discharge went smoothly. for their help and amazing care especially those who looked after me.
